Hello, <insert name here>! I think that 2018 has been a great year so far, but there is still so much to do in May! What brings you to my corner of the wiki on this lovely Sunday?

  • is this thread enough evidence that the user is a sockpuppet or is it too vague

      Loading editor
    • There are a number of claims in that thread but no links to evidence. Do you happen to have a link to where the banned user said their aj username was “Iloveajforeals” or where they said they met Iloveajforreals?

    • Well if the only thing we have is them saying they met someone with the same username, I personally think it is too vague. If Petaya the Ring Tailed Lemur can provide a link to that username thing they claimed, that would probably be enough evidence.

      that's me

      wow

I actually do remember Ilovepandasforreals say that their user was Iloveajforreals on their profile, but they deleted it I think. If it wasn't on there, then it was on a page...I just don't remember which...

  • I sent you an email (from the same email address I used to send you one in the past) and it's pretty important. Please read it whenever you're able to.

EDIT: Just letting you know this is Zephyrim, I changed my username on Wikia. I didn't realize it also took away my purple name, you'll have to add that back too. Sorry for all the messages.

    • Zeph, I've added your colors back in the CSS although you could have done so yourself, but whatever

    • I tried to clean up any other places where your username needed to be updated. I also replied to the email, but I think you might not agree with my opinions.

Thanks. I saw your email, I don't have anything wrong with your response. I think I might have freaked out too much over it initially, but I do think we might wanna have a discussion/vote about it again if the problem happens again.

  • When someone vandalized on this wiki, what is the first thing you do?

I am asking this only because the 'AJUW' got vandalized.

    • When dealing with vandalism, I think the following are good steps:

      • Revert the vandalism if it is a simple page edit and you are familiar with Reverting.
      • Report it to the local admins if any of them were recently active. It can be helpful to report something to multiple admins so that it will be handled as soon as possible.
      • Report it to the VSTF if the vandal caused problems on multiple wikis or if there are no active admins on the wiki where the vandalism took place.

  • I'm asking if there's a way to sort of, "raise" the requirements for a user to vote in a community vote? I just don't find 2 weeks enough, but perhaps there should be a 30-edit requirement or higher, or lower?

      Loading editor
    • The policies are always open for community discussion. Back when that policy was voted on, most of the discussion participants had suggested somewhere between 14 and 30 days for the prior join date. I opted for the lower range of that when creating the vote to appeal to more users.

There were also some ideas of having different requirements for different types of community votes. For example, some users suggested that any votes that only dealt with the look-and-feel/aesthetics of the site should have very low or maybe even no requirements, whereas votes that dealt with how the wiki was run such as policy changes should have very high requirements.

I can create a discussion about changing it on your behalf if you don't have the time to create it yourself.

    • If you could make one, that would be very much nice, as I am somewhat busy at the moment. Thank you if you do so.

  • There's a user that seems to have made their account solely with the intent of trolling, all of their edits have been like this, a majority of which are just trying them to get a reaction from people from calling them that one r-word insult.

I've blocked them for 3 days, but I'm unsure if their block should be longer or infinite, based on the fact I feel like their account was made only for this purpose. Should it be longer?

      Loading editor
    • When trying to determine a relevant time range for a block, I look at what percentage of the user's contributions involved some form of policy violation, how significant the policy violations were overall, and how likely it was that these violations were intentional. These parameters are used to identify the probability of a repeat offender.

In this case, a vast majority of the user's contributions contained minor to moderate violations that include off-topic posting, posting rude remarks that border on bullying, and general disruptive behavior that resembles trolling. Based on the tone of these violations, it seems very likely that they were all intentional. All of this information suggests to me that there is a high probability that the user would become a repeat offender, so I would recommend a block length of at least 1 month if not longer.

Thanks, I'll adjust the block and keep this in mind for future cases like this.

  • Hey, may you block this user? They've been necroposting, trolling and have confirmed that they're 12 on the AJ Failure Club Wiki.
