Hedge Hog is a single-player mini-game that was first introduced on September 13, 2013. The game can be found in Sarepia Forest as well as the Sol Arcade. It can also be played using the den version of Hedge Hog.
The objective of this game is to get the hedgehog to eat all of the berries found in the hedge maze. The hedgehog is controlled by the player using the arrow keys; the hedgehog will continue in the last direction the player pressed until it runs into a hedge or the player changes its direction. The player must avoid the Proto-Phantoms, as they will chase down the hedgehog and zap it. When the hedgehog runs into a Proto-Phantom, the player will lose one of their three remaining lives. If the player loses all three lives, the game is over. Throughout the hedge maze, there are also several Gems that can be collected for bonus points, but collecting them is not required to finish the level. There are also Power Crystals scattered in the hedge maze; if the player collects one, the Proto-Phantoms will turn gold for a short time, allowing the hedgehog to capture them for bonus points. Each level starts with no Proto-Phantoms and as time passes, up to six Proto-Phantoms will spawn around the hedge maze. Clearing some levels will increase the total number of lives for the player and reset the remaining lives to the maximum.
For every 600 points earned in the game, 1 Gem will be awarded when the game is over, but the minimum reward for playing is 5 Gems. Points in the game can be earned by collecting berries (10 points each), collecting Gems (5000 points each), and collecting Power Crystals (5000 points each). Catching Phantoms will also reward the player with points; the amount of points rewarded for each Phantom caught depends on how many Phantoms are caught in a streak before they return to normal: 250 points for the first, 500 points for the second, 1000, 2000, 4000, and so on.
There are seven achievements that can be earned by playing Hedge Hog:
- This game seems to be based on the classic arcade game Pac-Man.
- A few Proto-Phantoms are seen lurking around the game area in Sarepia Forest.
- After each level is completed, a fun-fact on hedgehogs is presented alongside the player's score.
