Animal Jam Classic Wiki

Zios is one of the guardian spirits of Jamaa. In lore, he is said to be the creator of the universe that contains Jamaa. He is also said to be the creator of Mira and, with the help of Mira, the creator of the Jamaa world as well as the Alphas. He has never been seen directly in the game, but his voice is heard in The Trials of Zios Adventure , and he has been depicted in many decorations around Jamaa since the Beta Testing.

Lore[]

Creations[]

And so it was that the Sky Father was named Zios. He created many stars and planets, and set them in motion. But after eons of creation, he became lonely. So he created the Sky Mother, a grey heron, and named her Mira.

In the original story, Zios created the entire universe that surrounds Jamaa, but he had help when creating Jamaa itself. Zios also created Mira long after the Jamaa universe had been created; however, it is unclear how much of his power was bestowed to Mira. It is also unclear how Zios came to be in the first place.

Together, Zios and Mira created their masterpiece: a lush land filled with oceans, mountains, meadows, and all kinds of plants and animals. They named this special world Jamaa, and for hundreds of years, the world and its animals were at peace.

With the help of Mira, Zios created Jamaa and everything in it. However, the original story said that Mira created the Phantoms on her own when her tears mixed with the elements of Jamaa. This was later altered in the Jamaa Journal story, The Dawn of the Alphas, as well as in the published book, Call of the Alphas, to say that it was the animal's distrust among each other that lead to the creation of the Phantoms that now plague Jamaa.

Mira and Zios, the guardian spirits of Jamaa, gifted each animal species with a Heartstone, a special jewel that contained the essence of that species and held the secrets of its magic.

As part of their creation of Jamaa, Zios and Mira both created the "Heartstones" that provided certain magical abilities for each species. However, it was later said that these stones were taken from the Lost Temple of Zios by each species to be hidden in their own villages and most of them were later taken by the Phantoms to trap said species.

Mira and Zios chose well, and these very different animals soon formed a family. To help in battle against the Phantoms, Mira and Zios gave the new leaders Alpha Stones, six special jewels that focused the strength and abilities of their entire species. With these stones, the six chosen animals became Alphas, the heroes chosen to save Jamaa in its darkest hour!

One of Zios' last creations, with the help of Mira, was the Alphas. Zios and Mira took animals from foreign lands, brought them to Jamaa, and gave them the powerful "Alpha Stones" to help them lead the remaining animals and defeat the Phantoms.

Relationships[]

Mira was beautiful and kind and they were very happy together. She loved Zios deeply and often told him how talented he was, encouraging him to create.
~ AJHQ on The first story of Jamaa

Zios' only relationship is with Mira, his companion. It is said that Mira loved Zios, but it is unclear what his feelings were for her and future stories would suggest that they are no longer together.

Mira, the Sky Mother, was sad that she had lost her companion Zios, the Sky Father. Her feelings of sadness and anger fell to the ground, mixed with the elements of Jamaa, and formed the dark and mysterious phantoms.
~ AJHQ on Jamaa Journal Volume 16

During the first Night of the Phantoms, it was claimed that Mira created the Phantoms when she lost Zios, but it was not yet understood what that meant at the time. This resulted in many speculations that Zios had died.

Mira and Zios watched in horror as the Phantoms spread throughout Jamaa.
~ AJHQ on The Daily Explorer - Episode 3 - Rise of the Phantoms

It was not until the more recent stories that it became clear Zios was still in Jamaa after the Phantoms were created. This suggests that what Mira lost was Zios' companionship. However, there is no explanation as to why Zios and Mira parted ways. Despite no longer being companions, Mira and Zios were still said to be working together as the guardian spirits of Jamaa in these newer stories.

Capture[]

As the animals marched forward, the Phantoms escaped by fleeing into their dark portals. But just as the last of the Phantoms were retreating, they overtook Zios and vanished with him into a portal. Mira quickly dove into a dark portal, following Zios and the Phantoms, disappearing as the portal closed.
~ AJHQ on The Daily Explorer - Episode 5 - The Fight to Save Jamaa

Just before they retreated to their foreign world, the Phantoms managed to capture Zios. Mira chased after them, but it is unclear whether or not she was captured in the process as well. It is unknown what happened to Zios after his capture, but many of the animal species (as well as the wolf Alpha Greely in the later adventures) were imprisoned in some type of crystal when captured by the Phantoms. By comparison, this suggests that Zios could also be imprisoned somewhere in the Phantoms' world.
