Captain Melville's Juice Hut, often referred to as the Juice Hut, is a place that can be found in Crystal Sands.

Appearance[]

From the outside, the Juice Hut looks like a traditional hut, with sticks and wood. It has a golden-colored roof made of straw pieces, and there is a sign that has a pineapple with lemon-shaped figures to the left and right on the roof. The corners of the hut are made out of palm-like logs that are also visible on the inside. The front of the Juice Hut has a small wooden deck with a mini-table and an umbrella that includes some smoothies. There is a blue and white beachball sitting next to the patio area. There are two openings on the wall, one of which is an empty wooden door frame that leads into the juice hut, and the other of which is partially concealed by yellow bamboo pieces. On the wall near the entrance is a sign that shows a smoothie with a fruit wedge and a tiny umbrella placed on the rim of the glass. An adoption icon for the Pet Kitty can be found to the left of the building.

The inside of the Juice Hut is dimly lit with a gray-brown wood plank flooring and green walls with tiger-like patterning. The wooden trim of the interior has geometric designs on it. The back right corner of the hut features a stage that includes a microphone, a guitar, and an amp speaker. Hanging from the ceiling of the hut are little bowls that hold a variety of exotic fruits, including what appear to be lychees, papayas, jackfruit, guava, and custard apples. There are several strands of large, spherical lights wrapped in rope netting hanging from the ceiling. The lights' colors include pale mint, lime yellow, light blue, light green, and deep bright blue. There is a window on the back wall of the room with a half-finished orange drink sitting on the sill. The window opening shows some of the outside beach scenery, including some foliage, stones, and a wooden bucket. Near the entrance of the Juice Hut is the smoothie bar; it consists of a curved counter-top with a swirly blue and green pattern. The counter holds two smoothie machines placed to the side and the front of the counter is lined with little shelves that hold various tropical fruits including blueberries, starfruit, strawberries, pineapple, oranges, and raspberries. Next to the counter is a yellow and green jukebox up against the wall. The jukebox has a green swirly emblem with four digits that somewhat resembles a paw print. On the wall behind the front counter is a large chalkboard menu with a bamboo border. The sign features illustrations of several fruits and a purple drink with white chalk writing. On the far left of the hut is an arcade machine and towards the front is a seating area with various mats, as well as a small staircase that leads to a less elevated area of the room.

Attractions[]

The primary attraction here is the Smoothie Machine, a mini-game that Jammers can play to obtain a fruit smoothie Holdable Icon. This location also includes The Claw, an arcade game that can be found in various locations around Jamaa; it can reward an assortment of Plushies, but it requires Gems to play. There are also some non-interactive areas of the Juice Hut, such as a music stage, mats on the floor to sit on, and a front counter concession where the smoothie machines are located. Formerly, Fast Foodies could be found outside the Juice Hut's entrance, but it was removed at an unknown date.

Trivia[]

  • During 2010 and early 2011, the Juice Hut's building was closed and could not be accessed. The Juice Hut was added as an accessible room on July 7, 2011, when Crystal Sands was renovated. Despite this, the building's exterior appearance has remained mostly the same since 2010.
  • There is no canonical evidence suggesting where the name Captain Melville is taken from, but there are a few possibilities:
    • The name might be derived from Captain Ahab, a famous character in a novel written by Herman Melville.
    • The name might be derived from Alexander Melville Bell, the father of Graham's namesake, Alexander Graham Bell.
    • The name might also be derived from Melville Bell Grosvenor, the son of Sir Gilbert's namesake, Gilbert H. Grosvenor.
  • The interior of this room is featured in the Juice Hut levels in Fast Foodies, though the room's layout and furnishings are slightly different.
